Hi everyone,
I’ve been using a gold melting induction furnace for a while and wanted to share a few practical points for anyone considering one.
An induction furnace melts gold by creating an electromagnetic field that heats the metal quickly and efficiently. Compared with torch melting, it’s generally faster, cleaner, and easier to control—especially when you’re working with repeat batches or need stable temperatures.
A few tips from my experience:
Crucible choice matters: graphite and ceramic crucibles behave differently. Make sure yours is rated for gold temperatures and compatible with induction use.
Use proper flux (when needed): it can help reduce oxidation and improve the melt surface, but don’t overuse it.
Ventilation is important: even if gold is clean, alloys and flux can produce fumes.
Start with small batches: get familiar with heating speed, pouring timing, and temperature control before scaling up.
Overall, if you melt gold regularly (jewelry making, small casting, recycling), an induction furnace is a solid upgrade for consistency and efficiency.
Would love to hear what brands/models people are using and any maintenance tips.
