So someone tapped me from behind last week in stop and go traffic on Sheikh Zayed Road, nothing crazy but enough to crack the rear bumper and push the trunk lid slightly out of alignment. The insurance adjuster said it looks cosmetic but the body shop just called me saying the rear floor pan might have a tiny crease and the trunk latch is off by almost a centimeter. Now I’m terrified this is going to turn into a structural nightmare that writes off the car. It’s a 2017 430i Gran Coupe that I really love and I’ve kept it in perfect shape until now. The shop mentioned something about Master Frame Repair Abu Dhabi being an option if the damage is mostly in the rear chassis rails but not severe enough to total the car. Has anyone gone through something similar? How do I know if they’re being honest about needing frame work versus just pulling the rear body panel back into place? I don’t want to drive a car that’s unsafe but also don’t want to get ripped off with a huge repair bill. Any advice on what questions to ask or second opinions around the city would be a lifesaver right now.
