Non mi sembra così difficile, alla fine devo ripetere X volte una stessa operazione.
Comunque devi rivedere il testo, come minimo togli tutti quei “then” che non significano niente.
Ti “revisiono” un pezzetto:
A = Between card number 1 and card number 2 there are twelve cards (including card number 2, counting from left to right). Twelve is greater than the first card (number 6)*, thus I place a thumb up under card number 6, and remember number 12 for the next calculation.
B = Between card number 2 and card number 3 there are nine cards (including card number 3, counting from left to right). Nine is less than the last number I memorized (number 12) so I have to place a thumb down under(**) card number 3, and remember number 9 for the next calculation.
(*) che se non ci metti quella parentesi stai dicendo che esiste una prima carta 6 ma anche una seconda e magari una terza carta 6
(**) under e below non sono sinonimi, usa uno o l'altro ma sempre lo stesso, non sono intercambiabili. Nello specifico “below” significa “a una certa distanza da ciò che è sopra”, per cui è preferibile “under” nel tuo caso
Comunque è un po' confuso perché se io leggo “card number 6” penso alla sesta carta e non alla carta 6, forse quel “number” ogni volta dopo “card” lo toglierei (non è possibile confondere “card 6” con “the 6th card”)
Mischiare le carte si dice “Shuffle”, non “Mix”
Riguarda anche il testo iniziale perché non è corretto

dovrebbe essere
